How can I join Maidstone Swimming Club?
It is important to realise that Maidstone Swimming Club is a competitive club. This means that anyone who joins does so with the ambition of competing for the club in galas or championships, either as a swimmer or a diver.
The club holds an assessment night on the first Friday in each month (with the exception of August or when the date falls on a public holiday: in the latter case the assessment will be held on the following week)
The assessment will focus on three strokes: frontcrawl, backstroke and breaststroke. Entry to the appropriate section of the club is dependent upon ability at each stroke rather than distance or speed.
Non-swimmers and those of limited ability will be assessed also on the assessment night. They will be able to join the ‘Learn to Swim’ section.
Anyone wanting to join the club having swum with another club at a more able level will be invited to a trial training session rather than undergo the normal assessment procedures. They will need to contact the club prior to the trial session.
